(MAKING) MUSIC FOR CINEMA

A brief history of the soundtrack, from “silent” cinema to the present day.
Workshop led by Mario Mariani
Duration: 3 hours + Q&A
An introductory and experiential workshop exploring the relationship between music and image, starting from the very beginning: a quick overview from the first thirty years of so-called “silent” cinema to modern times. From Pathé Marconi to Netflix.
How much remains today of the musical styles of early cinema, and of the clichés that make up a film’s soundtrack—which could be defined as a “supporting pillar” rather than just a backing track?

An event designed for film scholars, musicians, and lovers of the “seventh art” alike.
